An array of knitted cakes

Fondant fancy, anyone?

Stitch and Bitch

Looking for some pearls of wisdom? Stitch and Bitch have got it all sewed up…

Video Report: Forty Eight Hours

The days of taking your knitting needles on a plane are over, but as far as we know, knitting in public is not yet a criminal offence. Enter ‘Stitch and Bitch’ – the U.S knitting phenomenon taking the U.K by storm.

Basically all you need is a café, a few likeminded people with pointy sticks and hey presto your weekend is all stitched up.

A knitter

Knit one, purl one....

The Brighton and Hove Stitch and Bitch group meet once a week at Sanctuary Café in Hove. They’re a multi-skilled bunch - spinning a yarn or two, drinking coffee and knitting jumpers, scarves, wedding cakes and anything else that takes their fancy.

Lou Peachy, Brighton’s Stitch and Bitch Co-ordinator says: “It’s not just for old grannies anymore. Meeting as a group helps us get back in touch with craft skills and it’s a really supportive and fun environment.”

If you have the urge to stuff a ball of wool into your bag and join in the fun, check out the links - top right - on this page.
