My weekend: My Art

Artist Nom Kinnear-King uses her friends as inspiration. Here's her story...

Video Report: Forty Eight Hours

You’ll have to be quick to catch Nom’s art at Zuma at Seven Dials, Brighton – it is all on sale to fund her travels around the world.

Nom’s latest illustrations come together to form a series called ‘Homeland’, which will eventually be published as a book.  Featuring whimsical characters which are inspired by women she knows, the paintings set a mood at Zuma which will be hard to follow by the next artist.

The opening night brought with it live performances from some of the characters featured in the paintings, which really brought the art to life!

Nom Kinnear King - her painting

Champagne flowed from teapots and dark shadows lurked in corners, ready to surprise you at every turn.  The layout of Zuma, with its winding stairway and basement rooms fits this artwork wonderfully.

Nom has even been asked to paint the wall of the venue, leaving us with a permanent reminder of a fabulous show.

In this film, Nom discusses the stories behind her paintings, and the creative processes she goes through to construct them.

The Homelands exhibition has been evolving over the past month, with new artwork being added regularly.  nomchomski.com
