Behold the talent, the creative genius that swung through the foyer of Southern Counties Radio during the month of May. Check out some of the great artists who came in for the evening shows that we gave you during Brighton's May Festival.
I (Dan) was very busy during May. Over 20 bands came in to the Southern Counties foyer during Brighton's May Festival to bring us a wide range of music from classical to blues, folk and country, indie and acapella. As well as engineering these acts (with the helpful hand of my good friend, Toby Visram) I was out treading the pavements of Brighton shooting video shorts for Southern Counties very own web console. Many of the bands that performed on the show were captured on video by the hand of Simon Morrant and you can still check a few of these out on the console (www.bbc.co.uk/brightonfestival). Thank you to all the acts who performed on those great shows. My highlights were: Hazel O Connor and the Rainbow choir, (partly because she is part of my past but mostly because she is a free spirit and a normal person at the same time). The Diablos because they reminded me that it is ok if you like country music and Bacolao because the make my body move in an involuntary kind of way.
Check out these and others at the top of the page with our listen again feature, you will need Real Player but as a download it is not as invasive as it used to be (I refused to use it for ages because in the past it did try to take over all your files), and now runs in an invisible kind of way and the files you can listen to (or view on our festival console) are of a good quality.
Now that the festivities are over and done with we are resuming normal service for the acts that perform on South Live, and for my own sanity I am glad that we have 11 months left until we do it all again...
