A group from the BBC series The Monastery

The Monastery

Five men meet again to discuss a unique experience - spending forty days and forty nights with the monks of Worth Abbey.

Worth Abbey in Sussex goes onto TV screens across the nation this week when the second series of 'The Monastery' is broadcast.

The show follows a group of five men, who took part in a unique experiment almost eighteen months ago.

The group spent 40 days and 40 nights living with monks at Worth, which is a community of 25 Catholic monks who follow the Rule of St Benedict, a Rule written 1,500 years ago.

So what has happened to them since?

Did they continue with their faith? What has happened in their lives?

In the new show - broadcast from 9pm - 10pm on Wednesday nights on BBC Two, the men get back together to discuss how the experience has changed them.

It coincides with the publication of a new book: ‘Finding Sanctuary; monastic steps for everyday life.’, which was written by the Abbot of Worth Abbey – Father Christopher Jamison.

Father Jamison is also a co-founder of the Soul Gymn – a movement which promotes ethics and integrity in business.

BBC SCR’s Gordon Astley spoke to Father Jamison about his new book….
