Singfield are from Hampshire and have a similar sound to The Manic Street Preachers, or the track 'Innocence' has, which is the one that I have listened to. They are Ben - vocals, Joe (Ben's brother) - lead guitar and harmonica, Nick - drums and Dominic on bass. The track was recorded live with no overdubs. Lucus are from Brighton with their track 'The Fear' which is more ballad than the track from Singfield and overall has a more building spacious feel than Singfield's song. Lee Cooper is also from Hampshire. Most of the instruments on his track 'Get It Right' were played by his nibs and has already recorded a song at the BBC for an independent film with local musicians. He is part of a band that gigs and they have video art shown as those gigs. I really like the lilting quality of this song and I am going to have it in my head for a couple of hours - it is quite catchy. | " ..who has to try harder to impress the demonites." | | Dan |
The three of this weeks acts will be going in front of the demo panel after 8pm on Sunday. Tune in to find out who was successful and who has to try harder to impress the demonites. The victorious Demo panel winners were Horley based band Revolution with their track "Resin Rain". They scored a massive 27/30 earning them a set at our monthly Albert Sessions. The launch of the South:Live Albert sessions takes place on Monday March 27, upstairs at the Albert on Trafalgar St in Brighton (that's the building with the massive portrait of John Peel on the side). Launching the series will be demo panel winners Silvermaker and The Wonderfuls.
The gig is free but you had better come early we are expecting a fan flood. You can check information about the Albert Sessions through the Albert Sessions link on the South Live homepage. |
