Take Me Home

Thousands of pets are abandoned every year - from cute babies to characterful older citizens. Rehoming is about giving them a new start with a new family who can offer them the love and attention they deserve.

More about Rehoming

Each year the RSPCA rehomes around 70,000 animals. These animals arrive at the society out of various circumstances. They may be unwanted pets that have been callously dumped or victims of cruelty by their owners.

In many cases animals were removed from their homes after cruelty investigations and taken to welfare centres to be cared for until they were healthy enough to be rehomed.

Founded in 1891, Dogs Trust, (formerly NCDL), has always campaigned on dog-welfare related issues to ensure a safe and happy future for our four-legged friends. Our local Dogs Trust Centre is based in Shoreham.

If you are thinking about getting a dog, maybe you should consider rehoming.

We have some important points to think about, in order to help you make the right decision:  A dog can live for years. This is a long term relationship.

The cost of food, toys, vaccinations, vets and insurance bills can soon add up. There may be unexpected costs as well. Can you really afford it?

Dogs need a lot of attention. Apart from feeding and watering, cleaning up and playing with them can take up lots of time too. Can you make time for them?

Have you considered who would look after your pet if you went away?

Are you prepared to spend time exercising them or going for walks in all weathers?

Have you got enough space in your home for a dog?

Have you considered all other members of the household? Some dogs need to be kept away from children or other animals.

Celebrate Christmas with your furry friends!

If you can answer YES to all the above, then perhaps you could give a home to an animal from our local rescue centre?

BBC southerncounties have teamed up with Shoreham Dogs Trusts to bring you a selection of locally based pooches who are all looking for permanent caring homes.

You can find all the information you need about each pet, on their dedicated webpages.
