Three people are recovering in hospital following what police have described as a 'tragic family incident'
in Southampton.

Police were called to a house in Barnfield Close yesterday afternoon where they found a middle-aged woman with stab wounds to her chest and abdomen.

Her 17-year-old son was also discovered with slashes to his arm. And a fifty-one year old man was found in the street with a wound to his stomach.

The woman and son were rushed to Southampton General Hospital suffering serious injuries.

The man was arrested and taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Cosham, where he is under police guard.
