A Woman who claims she has been left psychologically scarred due to bullying at a school on the Isle of Wight has lost her appeal for damages at high court.

At the High Court in London, an 11 day trial ended in the Isle of Wight council being declared not liable to pay damages to 24 year old Emma Hansen.

She had attemped to sue them for £150 000 claiming treatment she received at Ryde High school is responsible for her continuing psychiatric injury.

The court heard claims of how she took an overdose in 1991 when she was 16 because of alleged bullying at the school. She claimed that she also suffered psychiatric problems after staff failed to protect her from her peers.

However in his ruling, Justice Wright decribed Emma Hansen as a sad figure and very immature.

A number of her old school friends from Ryde High School had been called by her to give evidence. They all claimed in court that she had been the victim of bullying but the Judge said he didn`t believe them.

He said he believed she had colluded with the witnesses to make it appear that she had indeed been bullied. The Judge also said that he believed the 5 girls that Emma Hansen had named as her bullies were totally innocent.

Her ex head teacher David Pettit was in court and afterwards he said he believed the judgess decision had vindicted himself and his staff.
