whose remains were found by Japanese police
Japanese police have confirmed that human remains found in a beach
cave near Toyko were that of the missing British woman Lucie Blackman.
The authorities found parts of Lucie's body near a cave at Tokyo
Bay, 30 miles south of the capital.
Lucie, 22, worked as a nightclub hostess in the city and disappeared
on July 1 last year.

Her father Tim
Blackman, a property developer from Ryde on the Isle of Wight, had
led the search for his daughter in Japan and made emotional appeals
for help from the Japanese public.
The remains were found near the seaside apartment of a Japanese businessman
accused of drugging and raping several women including a Canadian
hostess and another Briton.
Lucie, from Sevenoaks, Kent, disappeared after telling a friend she
was meeting an unidentified man. She was working as a hostess in Tokyo's
Roppongi entertainment district to fund a trip round Asia after giving
up her job with British Airways.

In October Japanese police arrested wealthy businessman Joji Obara
and he has since been charged with drugging and raping four women
since 1996 after inviting them to his Miura apartment.
DNA tests on blonde hairs found at one of his homes were identified
as belonging to Lucie. Obara has claimed he met Lucie only once
at a bar and has denied any responsibility for her disappearance.
