A hundred jobs are to be created at Fleetlands in Gosport.

It comes after the news that the Defence Aviation Repair Agency is moving all of it's helicopter engine business to Hampshire.

It had been feared the work would go to Wales, but today Armed Forces Minister, John Spellar, confirmed plans for the collocation of DARA's Engines and Components Business Unit.

Workers there will be offered the chance to relocate to Fleetlands, but DARA believes the uptake will be low.

The decision also means after an uncertain past the current jobs at the Gosport site have been secured.

The decision has won praise from local MP Syd Rapson.
