Kicking things off in the support slot on Sunday night were local lads Eve's Only Son who grabbed the audience's attention for all the right reasons.

The fresh-faced youngsters from Fareham have a sound which is difficult to pigeonhole - but basically they're a classic British indie rock band with influences from Muse through to Counting Crows.

With the lads all adding their own unique flourishes to their strong songs, they played a blistering set and are clearly a band to watch out for in the future.

While the stage was prepared for the headliners, a group of teenage girls peered excitedly towards the band's dressing room hoping to catch a glimpse of X Is Loaded frontman, Jake.

After making their way through some eager fans to the stage, the Loaded lads blasted into their set with their turbo-paced harsh guitars, floppy hair flying and skinny limbs flailing.

They have the energy and aggression of The Vines and a sound that's a mix of indie rock and tinnitus inducing metal riffs with big, ballsy vocals a la Hundred Reasons.

Renowned for his stage theatrics, it wasn't long before frontman Jake leapt off stage mid-song sending the mic flying and temperatures rising amongst the teenage girls in the front row.

About four songs in Jake complained that he was suffering with laryngitis and they cut their set short finishing with Raw Nerve with Jake teetering on top of the bass drum.

With their growing reputation as a 'must see' live band I was expecting great things from X Is Loaded - stage antics aside, to be honest none of the songs in the admittedly short set really stood out for me.

However, not feeling on top form may well have put a dampener on things.
