The
lads began 2004 as a three piece after their drummer quit - but the gap was short
lived with the arrival of human metronome, and beat-perfect tub basher Tim Guille
in the New Year.
The last piece to finish the new and improved Sonic Underground jigsaw was Rich
Morrow. Ed met Rich at the 2003 Isle of Wight Rock Festival while watching Iggy
Pop.

They realised
they both had similar tastes and influences and set up a jam together where Ed
discovered that; "Rich could play every single classic rock riff known to
man!" and that was that. The
band then suffered another loss this summer when guitarist Ian left the band to
concentrate on other musical ventures.
However,
the lads have made the transtion from five bodies to four with ease and have now
hit on a line-up that seems set to last. After several months tucked
away honing their sound together they've emerged with an envious mix of songs
which combine ferocious rock riffs with catchy choruses and electronic synth undertones.
Their sound is
hard to pin down - but with inspiration from artists such as Black Rebel Motorcycle
Club, David Bowie, The Crystal Method, The Rolling Stones and Led Zeppelin you'll
get a sense of the vibe. The lads are in the process of recording their
first single, Echoes, which looks set to include a B-side that will well and truly
rock your world. The lads have reworked The Knack's classic anthem, My Sharona. So,
watch this space, The Sonic Underground are on the road to success and no doubt
they'll reach their destination. |
