Formed in 2000 from the ashes of Space Moosey, The Score are:

Just - Vocals & Rhythm Guitar
Digby - Bass & Backing Vocals
Trev - Lead Guitar
Scotti - Drums

The band play an average of 100 gigs a year around the South and in London. They are unsigned but have worked with the ex-head of EMI who apparantly thought they had huge potential. (Shame he's the ex-head!)

The Score

A&R department advice is that packaging your demos is very important. The Score have thought about that and spent some time working on their image. Their information pack is commendable, containing two CDs and loads of pictures.

There's humour here, it's obvious when you see the monkey on the CD cover, but when you play the disc, which kicks off with a track called 'See You Right (when I get my glasses)' you know this is a band who like a laugh.

The CD continues with 'Mrs Scatty Bat' 'Appease (if I thought it would)' and the title track 'Monkey in Me' Thirteen tracks in all make this more an album than a demo.

The Score
The Score, in 'Bohemian Rhapsody' mode.

'Monkey in Me' is the band's second album this year. They released 'Animals and Madmen' back in March. Just, who writes all the songs, obviously doesn't suffer from writers block.

The songs were all recorded within a small home studio. Not so long ago that would have meant poor quality, but PCs and hard disk recorders are cheap these days and when you listen to demos like this it makes you wonder whether the owners of small commercial studios are flogging a dying horse.

The Score claim to have strived to maintain their own sound, taking influences from no other band. That sounds like a challenge, so have a listen to their demo tracks and let the band know what you think -
