The
current version of The Jupiter Few formed during 2001 with a line-up
of:
Ash Weeks - guitar and backing
Brad Weeks - vocals, harmonica, shakers
Aiden Lavi - bass
Mike Mathieson - drums
Jay Bowin - keyboards, samples etc
Luke Donovan - organ
Inspired by the psychedelia and rock of the 60s and 70s, The
Jupiter Few tap into the best bits of that era and give it a freshness
which justifies it in the present.

The
60s are said to have been a multi-coloured, psychedelic summer of
love, when all the girls wore Mary Quant mini-skirts and drove their
VW beetles from party to party.
In fact that was true only for brief moments and then only in a
few places.
Nevertheless, we choose to believe that the swinging sixties were
like a decade long Austin Powers movie because, let's face it, it
seems like a whole lot of fun!

Live,
the Jupiter Few are about as close as you'll get to being at an
early gig by The Small Faces or The Doors - recreating the feel
of those technicolour times. Even before they've begun, the brightly
painted keyboards and drum kit give a hint of what's to come.

more of The Jupiter Few in the woods |
Of
course some gigs are better than others - sometimes the 'vibe' isn't
quite there (you see, it's real!) but on a good night, when Brad
takes the stage, singing into a flashing 'voice-changing' toy megaphone,
there's a feeling that anything could happen.
The Jupiter Few manage to make something which is essentially retrospective,
sound fresh, even experimental.

Some
people don't like the 60s/70s thing, in which case they sit down
or leave. The rest find that The Jupiter Few dig deep into their
perception of that era and deliver a condensed version... a 'fix'
of psychedelic rock.
All their material is original, Ash being the main songwriter. Listen
to the tracks on this page and you'll have an idea of what The Jupiter
Few are doing, but to really appreciate them you should see them
play live.
