Barrington
are a six piece contemporary funk/rock/pop band based in Southampton.
Playing electric and acoustic sets, they tend to change their line
up for each gig, making every performance a new experience. |

All Barrington's
material is written by Alex Furr (acoustic guitar/vocals) and keyboardist/vocalist
Lucy Heatlie. They have already produced over 30 original tracks.
The band members quote a huge range of influences and come from an
equally wide range of musical backgrounds. Lucy was classically trained
in piano and clarinet. She also plays a shaky egg, whatever that is.
They're keen to avoid letting any one style dominate the Barrington
sound.

An album,
'Recreation for Beginners', was recorded at the Alma Road Studios.
That's Alex's bedroom, in case you were wondering.
The CD was funded by income from gigs and took seven months to complete.
It's an enhanced disc with extra tracks and biographies.
If you're one of those people who arrange their CDs in musical categories
you might put Barrington next to Dido, or Simon and Garfunkel. Or
you might end up reorganising the whole lot trying to fit them in.
What do you think?
