A
Foo Fighter playing in the support band at The Joiners, surely not!?
BBC Southampton's Indy Almroth-Wright went to investigate... |

Supporting
New York's hardcore punk band Matchbox Romance on Friday night were
Jackson United, the side project of Foo's guitarist Chris Shiflett.
The Joiners was packed tighter than a can of sardines with Foo's fans
all eager to hear Jackson United's music and see how their hero would
scrub up as a frontman.

This
was a no-frills tour with no roadies or guitar-techs, so, when Chris
appeared on stage to set up the crowd hollered questions at him left
right and centre and craned their necks to see what was in his mini
silver suitcase.
The rock four-piece from California, are basically a solid, powerful
old-skool rock band with sprinklings of punk pop here and there.
The songs are infectious, feelgood summertime tunes with loads of
hooks and bounce along choruses but with plenty of raw power to keep
the mosh-pit crowd happy.

We all knew he was a six string master but Chris has made the switch
to centre stage with ease and proved to be a confident frontman with
plenty of banter throughout the gig.
As you'd expect their set was flawless but it was all over far too
quickly for The Joiners crowd who found that Jackson United were right
up their street. Hopefully next time they'll be headlining.
