The 'Burn played their summery folk tunes to a sun-drenched Seaclose Park at the first day of the Isle of Wight festival.

BBC Southampton's Abbie Collins talked to drummer Lee just after he came off stage.

Is this the first festival the band has played?
No, we did V2002 last year and a festival in Cardiff last year. We're doing Glastonbury this year.

Is it different playing festivals to normal gigs?
It's totally, totally different. The sound just disappears out into nowhere and you can't hear anything. It's just strange!

Are you a keen festival goer yourself?
I've never to Glastonbury in my life and I'm about to go and play it. It'll be the first time I've ever been. I went to V2001 though.

What bands here that you're interested in seeing here?
Iggy Pop. I'm looking forward to seeing Weller again because we did a tour with him last year. He did an acoustic tour and we did about 14 dates with him. He was on his own, without his band, so he spent a lot of time chatting to us. He's a really good bloke.

Are there any new bands like you like?
The Coral are great and The Hulk and Klums. Have you heard of them? They're from Liverpool, two scousers playing bluegrass, country and blues type stuff.

So who are you're influences?
Neil Young, The Band, The Beatles, The Stones. I like a lot of Factory stuff like New Order and Joy Division. Also, George Harrison and Johnny Cash.

Do you feel like you're pioneering Blackburn music?
Yeah, absolutely because there hasn't been a band from Blackburn since The Four Pennies in the early sixties. I think they had a hit. Nobody's ever come out of Blackburn really.

Are you trying to encourage young bands from Blackburn?
Oh absolutely. We go to a lot of gigs in Blackburn and stuff. We go around and see the local bands.

I heard Badly Drawn Boy spotted you at one of your early gigs. Is that true?
Well, no, he didn't see a gig. That's Chinese whispers. It was a friend of a friend who let us use his studio. We recorded six tracks in his studio with another guy from Twisted Nerve Records from a band called Mum and Dad. He produced six tracks that got heard by Dave Boyd at Pop and then he came up about a month later and signed us.

Yeah, I read that Dave Boyd heard your demo playing in a clothes shop in Soho. Is that true?
Rachel, who's now our manager, used to work in a clothes shop called Sinch which sold vintage Levi's. It's in Carnaby Street and Dave Boyd from the record company used to go in and buy his clothes. She was just playing the track in there one day and one of the guys that worked in the shop knew Dave Boyd and said;"This is Rachel's brother's band". She's the sister of the guitarist. So it just went from there really.

How long have you all known each other?
I've known the band only since I joined. That was about four years ago but they've all known each other since school because they're all quite a bit older than me. Three of them are 30 now so they've known each other for years and years. I just saw them playing a gig in Blackburn without a drummer and then I joined a week later.

Did you approach them to be in the band?
I used to be in another band in Blackburn that no-one had ever heard of and a friend of mine had seen that band before and said that they needed a drummer so I just went to see them.

Are you a Blackburn Rovers fan?
I'm not! No, I am if I have to be but I'm not a football fan.The rest of the lads are. They still play for their local team.
