Fareham's
indie rock four-piece rode into The Joiners on Sunday on the coat
tails of X Is Loaded.
Richard Morrow was in the front row and e-mailed his U-review of their

It's
rare that you go to a gig and even notice the support band, let
along stop and listen to their entire set.
Opening for X Is Loaded were Eve's Only Son, a local four-piece.
The youngsters played a 45 minute set that could eclipse most of
today's radio output.
Admittedly the venue was small, the sound mediocre at best but anyone
with half an ear for a good tune could not fail to hear brilliant
songs played with skill.
Despite their tender ages they have the rare advantage of an effortless
attention to arrangement and dynamics that's been missing from rock
music for a long time.
This band are not retro, they're not new-tro, neither are they reinventing
the wheel. What they are doing is finding (not replicating) a sound
that combines the best of current and previous British and American
rock.
This leaves them somewhere in the mid-Atlantic - the home of most
British rock bands including the Stones, Who, Zeppelin, U2 etc.
Left untouched, their sound is good. Given a little time it will
be great. For an only child, Eve's son is definitely worthy of a
bigger family tree.
