The Orange Rooms is the ideal pre-club venue or place to chat and unwind, the bar has three levels which provide for all your moods. Whether you're there with friends or on a first date there's sure to be a place to suit your needs.

The venue has played host to a variety of top acts throughout its three years including Mr Scruff, Giles Peterson, Andy Smith, Grand Master Flash, Dexter of the Avalanches, Scratch Perverts, DJ First Rate, DJ Scully UK DMC Champion.

I joined the Orange Room's third birthday party where resident band BossNass lead by Steven Keith of local Hip Hop outfit The Pick Pockets had the full house dancing and singing all night long.

The Orange Rooms
I can't hear you!!

Local artists Aaron Soul & Laura Vane helped BossNass raise the roof, DJ MR DefIKew also of the Pick Pockets jammed away with amazing skill with the band.

His jaw-dropping spinning and awe inspiring scratching really is something else - DefiKew has his own Hip Hop and funk night at Mono every Thursday called Sucker Punch.

This funky bar gets a great mix of people no matter what day of the week it is - but apart from the Southampton football team, (occasionally Pompey too) the Orange rooms tell me they don't get many famous faces in here apart from the acts they put on.

That's if you don't count Carl Cox, Omar or Terry Nutkins as famous! James Beattie can be found serving behind the bar some Sundays - it really depends on how well he played the previous afternoon!

Coming up...
Sunday 25th April you'll find one of the stars of this year's OneWorld Live; Fat Freddy's Drop, a dub, reggae electronic seven piece from New Zealand.

As part of their packed weekly calendar there's the popular Sunday livelineup, where the evening is dedicated to local funk, ska, soul, hip-hop and jazz talent.

The Orange Rooms
Hey Mr DJ!

Resident band BossNass play the first Sunday of every month, they are an eclectic seven piece who play Britney to Outcast with a very personal and energetic vibe.

Every Bank holiday Orange is the venue for High Tide's after show party. It's a very hectic affair, the DJ's play on for their members with dance classics that we all used to hum, and dance in our bedroom to when no one else was around!

The week's calendar...
Mon-Wednesday: Seriously cool lounge music, such as Grand Central artists, Jazzmattaz, Blue Note etc.

Thursday: Hosted by the infamous Six Million Dollar Men, the weekend starts here with a selection of Jazz, Soul, Funk and Disco classics to get you in the mood.

Friday: Brings you the Hot Pot. All the vital ingredients are there: Balerics to Breaks, Hip-Hop to House& Soul to Ska not to mention a good yesteryear classic or two along the way.

Saturday: Funky by name, Funky by nature. If you've got a booty, you'll be shaking it!

Sundays nights: Thelivelineup. South coast's old skool, plus up and coming live talent perform weekly sets.
