Harvey's ambitious coming of age urban fairy tale about two teenagers falling
in love for the first time is coming to The Point. |

Set on an estate
during a long, hot summer, the story follows three teenage neighbours; Jamie,
Ste and Leah as they make their way through difficult parts of their lives.
Jamie
lives with his tough pub manager mother and, as he's bright but introverted is
finding it hard to fit in at school. He's bullied and especially hates PE so he
regularly skips school.
Ste lives nextdoor to Jamie and is the opposite
of Jamie, he's good at sport and fits in with the crowd at school, but his problems
are at home, where his drunken father makes his life a misery.
The other
member of the trio is Leah a smart but self-hating character who's been thrown
out of school and spends her days listening to her idol Mama Cass.
The
moving and humorous story takes a subtle but awkward twist as the tension between
Ste and Jamie's parents escalates, and they find themselves becoming increasingly
attracted to each other.
Jonathan Harvey also penned the BBC's hit sitcom
'Gimme, Gimme, Gimme', so that should give you an indication of the kind of humour
to expect.
