Up until now mobile phone games like Snake and Tetris have been fairly unsophisticated because the chip in a mobile phone is about 1,000 times less powerful that an average home computer.

Friends will be able to play the games together.

Superscape has developed a 3D software which allows mobile phone users to play decent interactive rally racing, Sumo wrestling and shoot-em-up games which you can play against your friends.

The software is suitable to run on to run currently available mobile phones and for 2.5 and 3G mobile phones, which are likely to be available in the next few months.

It's estimated that the invention, could be worth up to £20 billion a year as phone companies charge people to download new games to their phones.
