Frequently asked questions
This page answers some of the frequently asked questions about Songs of Praise. Please note that because of the volume of emails we receive, if you contact us with a question that has been answered below you will not receive a personal reply.
Can I get a copy of a particular episode?
Unfortunately not. We are unable to send out copies of the programme, past or present, on VHS/DVD, and it is not available to purchase in the shops because of copyright and contractual reasons. If you live in the UK, Songs of Praise is available to watch again online through the BBC iPlayer.
Can I watch Songs of Praise again online?
Yes, if you live in the UK. You can watch the most recent episode of Songs of Praise using the BBC iPlayer.
Can I take part in the programme?
Keep an eye on our tickets page, which we update with locations we are visiting once they are confirmed. This page will give details of the location, the date of the recording and how to apply for tickets.
When can I apply for tickets for the next recording at The Royal Albert Hall?
Details of how you can apply for tickets will appear on the tickets page and an announcement will be made on a forthcoming programme; keep watching so you don't miss out. Unfortunately the Songs of Praise office cannot reserve tickets.
How do I invite Songs of Praise to our church/area?
What should I do if I have a programme idea?
All programme ideas need to be sent in writing using the official proposal document. If you would like to submit a proposal you need to bear in mind there are certain criteria that we need to meet before we can even consider the location. These are listed in the proposal document.
We receive a large number of invitations throughout the year for only fifty two transmission slots, meaning we have to turn down many of the invitations we receive. Please also bear in mind before making your proposal that we provisionally plan eighteen months in advance.

Can I get the words and music featured in Songs of Praise?
Some of the words and music may be commercially available either in the Songs of Praise Hymn Book or other hymn books. However we cannot reproduce copies of the music used within individual episodes for copyright reasons. Please see our factsheets for individual programmes. Each factsheet lists details about the music and if it is commercially available where it can be sourced.
Sheet music for the Songs of Praise signature tune, composed by Robert Prizeman, is published by Chester Music, catalogue number CH55835. You can listen to the theme tune on CD 2 of the Songs of Praise Album.
How do I get a presenter's autograph?
Write a letter addressed to the presenter, enclosing a self-addressed envelope for the signed photo. The envelope doesn't need a stamp and must be big enough to contain a postcard. Mark your letter with the word "AUTOGRAPH" in the top left corner. Send to the following address:
Presenter's name (for example Aled Jones), Songs of Praise, BBC, Room 5012, New Broadcasting House, Oxford Road, Manchester, M60 1SJ.
Please be patient when waiting for your reply. Some presenters take longer than others, so we can't tell you exactly how long it will take.
Where can I purchase the Songs of Praise CD?
The Songs of Praise Album is available in all major record stores and in most supermarkets. The best way for you to purchase a copy of the new CD is by purchasing online. The BBC shop has it listed on their website: www.bbcshop.com.

Currently there isn't a CD of the top 20 hymns and we don't have any plans to produce a DVD of this programme or any other episode. This is because of copyright and contractual reasons.
