Presented by Pam Rhodes
Pam Rhodes explores the world of entrepreneurs and looks at the role that faith plays in business. She meets some Christian entrepreneurs, asking if it's really possible to be both an entrepreneur and a Christian.
Interviewees include Sir Tom Farmer, the founder of Kwik-Fit, Jerry Marshall whose organisation helps alleviate poverty in third world countries and social entrepreneur Lord Mawson, whose entrepreneurial spirit brought new life to a church in East London.
Music includes performances by The Adventist Vocal Ensemble and Faryl Smith, whose debut album became the fastest selling solo classical album in British chart history. Congregational hymns include Be Still For The Presence Of The Lord and Take My Life And Let It Be.

SIR TOM FARMER (CBE)
Sir Tom Farmer is the founder of Kwik-Fit. He sold the company in 1999 and now concentrates on his other business interests, as well as charity and community projects.
A devout Roman Catholic, Sir Tom says that you can be a Christian and a successful businessman and believes that all the successful businesses in the world have been built on principles of Christianity and other religions.
He tells Songs of Praise how being a Christian has helped him in business and the responsibility he feels to use the skills that God has given him.
REV DR RICHARD HIGGINSON
Rev Higginson is a lecturer in Christian Ethics and the Director of Faith in Business at Ridley Hall in Cambridge - an Anglican theological college.
Faith in Business is a project which focuses on how Christian faith and ethics fits into the world of work and business.
Rev Higginson explains that many of the well known businesses we have today were started by Christian entrepreneurs, and that although the church currently feels a sense of unease about business, that hasn't always been the case.
He is the author of 'Questions Of Business Life' - a book which explores workplace issues from a Christian perspective. It is now out of print but is available as an electronic download - http://www.ridley.cam.ac.uk/fibq.html

TOM SANDERSON
Tom Sanderson is the UK Director of Five Talents, the microfinance initiative of the worldwide Anglican church. The charity helps the poor in developing countries to start and expand small businesses in order to provide the essentials such as food, clothes and schooling for themselves and their families.
The charity is called Five Talents because it was inspired by the Parable of the Talents (Matthew 25: 14-30) and it all started at the Lambeth Conference of Anglican Bishops in 1998. To date, 20,773 entrepreneurs have been helped with in 10 countries - impacting 199,420 people through job creation and supporting families.
Tom was an economic advisor in the Ministry of Agriculture in London for 10 years, before spending five years with Church Mission Society in Uganda, where he also helped establish the first Five Talents project, helping thousands of entrepreneurs. Since returning to the UK in 2005 he has been leading Five Talents UK.
Tom tells Songs of Praise how important it for people to earn a living for themselves, in order to empower them and to give them self esteem.

Lord Mawson arrived in Bromley by Bow 25 years ago as a young minister to find just a dozen people sitting in the pews and with only £400 in the bank. More social enterprises were set up and strong links with schools and the local community were forged. Now home to 25 businesses and social enterprises, the Bromley by Bow Centre employs 140 staff and more than 2000 people pass through the doors every week.
