Presented by Aled Jones

General:

Congregational singing from Hexham Abbey includes I, The Lord Of Sea And Sky, The Church's One Foundation and There Is A Redeemer

Hexham Abbey Choir is conducted by the Abbey Director of Music, Michael Haynes. The organist for all congregation items is Hugh Morris, Hexham Abbey Assistant Organist.

The main congregation is conducted by Gordon Stewart and accompanied by Fine Arts Brass

The Songs of Praise Music Adviser is Robert Prizeman.

NEIL ROBSON
Craster kippers are produced in Craster, a typical Northumberland fishing village located half way between Blyth and Berwick. L Robson and Sons is a fourth generation family business specialising in the traditional method of oak smoking kippers and salmon. The company still cures the fish in the original smokehouses which are over 130 years old.

JILL FENWICK
Jill is Museum Manager at the Grace Darling Museum. Jill tells us how, after more than 160 years, Grace Darling is still remembered for her selfless heroic part in rescuing the survivors of the SS Forfarshire, wrecked just off the Bamburgh coast during a terrible storm in 1838.

Aled starts his journey from Seaton Sluice, a small village and seaport at the southern border of the Northumberland coastline. In 1764, to facilitate the burgeoning coal trade, a new entrance to the harbour mouth was created by blasting an opening out of solid rock. 'The Cut' was one of the most important engineering feats of its day and can still be seen at Seaton Sluice.
