| Dean Meehan was brought up a Catholic, and over the years his faith and churchgoing lapsed. Reading The Da Vinci Code reignited his interest in religion and he found himself speaking to a priest in a confessional for the first time after 26 years. It transformed his faith and he now has a strong sense of relationship with God.
Dean's interview was in St Wilfrid's Church, York Father John Wilson is a Catholic priest who explains why the new confessionals at Leeds Cathedral are so much better than the old ones, and answers some FAQs on the subject of confession. • Confession comes from the New Testament when Jesus told his disciples to forgive one another's sins • Catholic Priests abide by the Seal of the Confessional - they cannot disclose anything that has been told them inside the confessional • Father John chooses to confess to another local priest on a regular basis. Kate Kelly works for Christians Against Poverty(CAP)and reveals how she had to call on their help. Whilst working for them she realised the extent of her own debt, and had to confess it to a colleague.; She asked to be taken on as a client. This year, with their help, she will be debt-free. She says that confession to another person is an important part of the process and has changed everything for her. Bev Levy-Smith A self-confessed shoplifter and drug dealer who has served time in prison, Bev talks about how she overcame her addictions through confession. She now works for Teen Challenge, an organisation helping people overcome life-controlling problems such as drug and alcohol addiction. Although she served her sentence for her crimes, she still had to confess to others, and to God, before moving on in her life. She says once the confession is said "it's done. God doesn't make you grovel" For more information visit www.teenchallengeleeds.co.uk/ Bev's interview was in Caffe Guru, Brewery Place, Leeds and other footage was filmed at Victoria Quarter and Centenery Bridge Blessing given by the Rt.
