Aled Jones visits the Church of the Holy Innocents in Highnam, Gloucestershire, designed by Victorian philanthropist Thomas Gambier Parry and described by John Betjeman as England's most complete Victorian Church. Aled talks to the great grandson of Thomas Gambier Parry, and finds out about his famous son, composer of Jerusalem, an icon of British music. Other hymns include: All People That On Earth Do Dwell, Angel Voices Ever Singing and Dear Lord and Father of Mankind.

INTERVEW SECTION 2: LINK TO FIRST HYMN
After an extract from the diary of Thomas Gambier Parry dated 29th April 1851 - the day the church was consecrated - Aled Jones links into a hymn that Parry himself chose for the consecration service.

After a further extract from Thomas Gambier Parry's diary from the day of the consecration service of the church at Highnam, Aled links into the closing hymn, arguably the most famous composed by his son Charles Hubert Hastings Parry - 'Jerusalem'.

2) HIGHNAM COURT
Highnam Court was the home of Thomas Gambier Parry. The house
is no longer owned by the Parry family and is in private ownership.
Both the house and gardens have recently been restored.
The house is not open to the public, but the gardens are open under
the National Gardens Scheme.
Open May - September, 1st Sunday in the month, 11 - 5.
