Joe Speed - Priddy
Mrs Stroud - what do you think pays for the running of the event? Don't forget that the damage done to the agricultural land by cars has to be repaired - after a wet year that costs a lot of money.
Mrs Stroud
The fair was great as usual but the price for parking a car in a field full of holes and dips and cow muck is ridiculously high.
Annie and Claire
It would be a great shame if this age old tradition were end due to the thoughtlesness of certain members of the community.
We sincerely hope that the parish of Priddy will find a solution to the problems and that the fair will continue for centuries more.

I have been going to Priddy Sheep Fair for over 30 years. I am a Feltmaker/Fibre Artist/ Storyteller. I was at Priddy Fair last year, giving feltmaking demonstrations and telling stories in a Yurt. We hope to continue to develop rural crafts and quality produce. We are calling on all people, who have a deep love for this ancient fair, to help us in its continuation.

A village referendum is being held to decide whether the parish continues holding the fair. A small element of the travelling community manage to create rubbish, human waste and a general nuisance with their illegal camping prior to the fair itself, this has led to the need to consult those affected by these inconsiderate and illegal actions. Obviously those of us on the committee wish the fair to continue but we have to listen to the voices within the parish.
Despite the terrible weather the sheep sale, implement sale and the trade area all gave us positive feedback. If the fair continues we hope to improve the layout of the fair, the tradestands and funfair and the situation with illegal camping. I for one would be very sad to see the passing of a centuries old traditional country event.

FYI. Should the Priddy Sheep Fair be held in 2006, then the date will be the 23rd of August. I would advise people to keep an eye on the fair website for further info.
Also, many thanks to all the people who helped on the day, all in all, it went quite well.
