Glastonbury launch festival competition

Fancy following in the footsteps of Jay-Z, Sir Paul McCartney and The Who by playing at one of the world's biggest music festivals?

If so, then the Glastonbury Emerging Talent competition is for you!

Now in its fifth year, previous winners include The Subways and Scouting For Girls.

If you're an unsigned artist, all you need to do is upload two of your original songs to the competition website by 26 January.

The top 12 will go forward to a series of live finals in March 2009 and the winner will be chosen by an elite team of music experts including the festival organisers Michael and Emily Eavis, BBC Radio One Introducing DJ Huw Stephens as well as journalists from Q Magazine.

The public can also vote in a 'wild card' entry into the finals who will be guaranteed a slot at the Queen's Head stage at the festival as well as having the chance to win a slot on the Pyramid or Other Stage.
