Amy Winehouse: no shrinking violet
Eavis: "Winehouse needs to be at Glasto '08"
Glastonbury organiser Michael Eavis has said he "really, really wants" Amy Winehouse as one of the headline acts at this year's festival.
Troubled singer Amy Winehouse is the number one target to headline this year's Glastonbury Festival. In an exclusive BBC interview, organiser Michael Eavis confirmed he wants Winehouse to star at the festival in the last week in June.
Winehouse was barely out of the headlines during a traumatic 2007. Cancelled tour dates, accusations of drink abuse and interviews with the police have dogged her over the past few months - and her husband Blake Fielder-Civil is currently remanded in custody facing serious assault charges.
Winehouse's album 'Back to Black' went platinum
But she was one of the success stories of last year's Glastonbury festival. Her performances on the Pyramid Stage in the afternoon on the opening Friday, and the Jazz World stage later that evening, were among the highlights of the weekend.
Speaking to the BBC about this year's line-up, Michael Eavis said of Amy Winehouse "I really really do need her".
