Who are The Mirettes?

Hugo Newington-Smith on bass and vocals; Nell R James on piano; Lawrence Willoughby on trumpet and vocals; Tom Cory on guitar; and George Freeman on beats.

When did you form?

In 2006

How did you get together?

After discovering common ground over the love of Simon and Garfunkel, Hugo and Nell decided to form a ska band during a history lesson on women's rights.

The Mirettes

They enlisted more members, and now use their influences from all genres to play reggae/ska/punk like you have never heard before!

How would you describe your music?

Funky, punk, ska

How did the band gets its name?

It's slang for eyes in French (Nell being a language genius). It's sorta saying people need to open their eyes to good music!

Who are your musical influences?

The Mirettes

Reel Big Fish, Matisyahu (that man is a god), Less than Jake, Fat Freddys Drop, CSS, The Cat Empire, RHCP, anything and everything (non-fringed that is)

What is your most memorable gig so far?

Busking on Bath High Street and the video of that being posted up by Reel Big Fish on their MySpace!

Where would you most like to play?

Glastonbury Festival
