Hollywood-style Big Issue in Weston

There may not be a red carpet, but buying the Big Issue in Weston-super-Mare in February 2007 should make for a more glamorous experience than usual.

Bristol-born Graham Walker will be selling the street newspaper whilst wearing top hat and tails in order to raise money for charity.

Homeless since 1992, the Big Issue vendor has already raised thousands of pounds for various good causes throughout the South West.

"I like going into towns and doing something which is an anomaly of what people expect a Big Issue man to be doing," Graham told BBC Somerset Sound's Jo Phillips.

"It's not about taking, but actually putting something back into the community."

Graham will be dressed in his Hollywood-style outfit at his pitch in the High Street from Monday, 12 February, 2007 and has no intention of removing the costume until he reaches his £2,000 target!

The money will go to Children's Hospice South West (where his nephew died) and Somewhere to Go, a Weston-based homeless centre.
