The unveiling of the new portrait took place on Monday 18 September, 2006 at The Holburne Museum in Bath. Michael and members of his family were present, together with painter Jason Walker who won the museum's 2004 portrait competition.

Talking to BBC Somerset's Helen Otter about his painting, Jason said: "Initially it was going to be a much smaller picture. "But when the background banner arrived, it was bigger than I expected. My gut instinct said the whole thing needed to be bigger, so I made extra panels. "My work's normally a bit quieter and less bold, so this was good fun to paint." "Jason's done a fantastic job - he's such a good painter and so particular. He's got it just right. "I kept teasing him, saying: 'I'm actually better looking than that, you know.' He's got there now, though."
