The Militaries

After a lot of arguing, this Libertines-style band, from Bath, settled on the name The Militaries. They'd love to go back in time and perform at Woodstock, but they're currently partial to playing in garages.

Who are The Militaries?

Sam Walker on bass; Dan Butler on lead guitar; Tom Clemo on vocals; Luke "hooter" Treasure on drums; and Fred Clemo on rhythm guitar.

Where in Somerset are you from?

Bath

When did you form?

On a bus

How did you get together?

Sam, Tom and Hooter all go to the same sixth form. So we had bass, vocals and drums, but we needed a guitarist.

Butler used to go to the same school, and we remembered how good he was.

So all that was left was a rhythm guitarist, because we realised Tom could not play. So, we got Fred, Tom's younger brother.

How would you describe your music?

Similar to The Libertines

How did the band gets its name?

With a lot of ideas and arguments, we finally settled on the name The Militaries.

Who are your musical influences?

Led Zeppelin, old school AC/DC (with old singer), Oasis, Richard Ashcroft, Queens of the Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, The Kooks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Test Icicles, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Libertines, The Paddingtons, and The Subways.

What is your most memorable gig so far?

In Clemo's garage

Where would you most like to play?

We'd love to go back in time and play Woodstock, with the hippy love and all that.

Finally, tell us some interesting facts about yourself

  • Butler is currently trying to join the marines
  • Tom and Fred look nearly the same
  • Our manager is Grant Bennet, Sam's old bass, and cost £15
