Local events company, A Galaxy of Stars has organised the convention in celebration of the return of Doctor Who to our TV screens this year, and as a pre-launch party for the latest Star Wars film, which is being released in the summer.

Some of the stars of Doctor Who and Star Wars will be there, including the Doctor himself, Colin Baker, and David Prowse who played Darth Vader.

As well as being in with a chance of meeting the stars, there are opportunities to have your photo taken with them, take part in a question and answer session, and view some of the props that were used in the Doctor Who series and Star Wars films.

"Gosh that takes me back... or is it forward? That's the trouble with time travel, you never can tell."

The new series of Doctor Who is due to come to a TV screen in your home from 26 March 2005, with Shallow Grave actor, Christopher Eccleston in the title role.

Tom Baker as Dr Who, and Mary Tamm as Romana
Mary Tamm who played Romana will be appearing

He'll be the ninth TV Time Lord to control the Tardis in a 13-part series. The ex-Mrs Evans, Billie "Because We Want To" Piper, is the Doctor's companion, Rose Tyler.

Colin Baker, who played the sixth Doctor from 1984 to 1986, will be at the signing event in Weston-super-Mare.

Other stars of the show include Mary Tamm, who played Time Lord Romanadvoratrelundar, Wendy Padbury (who played Zoe, one of the Doctor's companions), Terry Molloy (who starred as the Kaled scientist Davros), and The Brigadier, Nicholas Courtney.

That old girl, the TARDIS will also be rematerialising a new exit at the event, and some of Doctor Who's sworn enemies will be making an appearance.

"Impressive. Most impressive. Obi-wan has taught you well."

Star Wars: Episode III, Revenge of the Sith is due out in the UK in May this year. It's the film in the saga that links the two recently made films to the original three which were made years ago.

David Prowse
Is the dark side of the Force still with David?

The film shows how Darth Vader becomes the most feared baddie in the Star Wars universe and how loads of Jedi get wiped out in the Clone Wars.

Bristol-born David Prowse who played the master of the dark side of the Force, Darth Vader in episodes IV, V and VI of the Star Wars films will be at the signing event.

Kenny Baker of R2-D2 fame will also be there, along with Jeremy Bulloch (who played legendary bounty hunter Boba Fett), Tim Dry (who played a Whiphid in Return of the Jedi), and Caroline Blakiston (who starred as Mon Mothma, the Supreme Commander of the Alliance to Restore the Republic).

For details of the different types of tickets available, and other star appearances, go to the event's website – the link's at the top of this page.

May the force be with you!
