Celebrate New Year in style!

New Year's Eve 2004 celebrations in Somerset

Yes, that time of year is fast approaching when you can crack open the bubbly, whip out the champagne flutes, and pucker up to snog your dearest – or nearest as the case may be!


But don't panic - we've put together a list of entertaining events to help you have a happy Hogmanay – Somerset stylee.

New Year's Eve Gala and Gala Dinner – Theatre Royal Bath, Bath

Prior to the New Year's Eve Concert, there's a Gala Dinner at 7.30pm which will begin with a champagne and canape reception. The concert starts at 10pm. The Bath Philharmonia, conducted by Jason Thornton, will play music by the Strauss family, Offenbach, Verdi, Mozart and Lehar, ending with Auld Lang Syne.

Cost: from £26.50 to £35.50 for the concert only, and from £78.50 to £87.50 for the concert and dinner

New Year's Eve Party – Bath Pavilion, Bath

Misspend your youth with Roy Wood's army who will perform with a 12-piece band, complete with seven-piece brass section. There's support from rock band Gravel, as well as a DJ. Food will be available and a limited number of tables for parties of eight can be reserved. The dress code is strictly black tie or witches' and wizards' fancy dress, for which prizes are available.

New Year's Eve Party Night - Cheese and Grain, Frome

The New Year's Eve party night will feature two tribute bands: Sgt Pepper's Only Dartboard Band, and SOS with their renditions of Abba classics such as Waterloo, Money Money, Mamma Mia and many more. You're encouraged to dress up to bring in the New Year.

Cost: £10, or £12 on the door, or £25 for a family ticket (two adults and two children). Buy 10 tickets and get the 11th free. If you book before Saturday 4 December, tickets only cost £8. Tickets are available from Raves from the Grave on Cheap Street.

Slammin' Vinyl's New Year's Eve Party – Royal Bath and West Showground, Shepton Mallet

Get ready to 'ave it large at Slammin' Vinyl's massive New Year's Eve party, which is one of the biggest parties of its type. There'll be five arenas, each with their own particular music style, individual DJ line-ups and own unique vibes.

Housework's New Year's Eve Party – Aura, Taunton

Room One has a massive line-up of hardcore, old skool, hip hop and hard trance with residents Marcus and Matt Thorne, and Ben Dobson. Room Two is hosted by Decode with OZ, Country Gent, 2 Veg, Deep, Parker and J Liquid on the decks.

New Year's Eve Party - Deller's Wharf, Taunton

Welcome in the New Year with two floors of rockin' great tunes.
Cost: free from 9 to 10pm, £3 after 10pm

New Year's Eve Celebrations - The Winter Gardens, Weston-super-Mare

TICKETS SOLD OUT

Five-piece band VIP will perform classics from bands and artists such as ABBA, The Beatles, Kylie Minogue, The Bee Gees, Atomic Kitten and Robbie Williams. South West DJ Steve Carpenter will also be spinning the discs with a festive disco. There's a fully licensed bar and a firework finale on the seafront at the end of the night.

New Year's Eve Party - Scally's, Weston-super-Mare

Bristol-based four-piece covers band Angel Up Front will be playing. They've been together since April 2002, and play mostly rock and a little pop material ranging from the 60s to the present day, from Van Morrison to Queens of the Stone Age.

We are hosting a New Years Eve Ball at Warminster School. The Ball is in aid of The Make-a-Wish Foundation which is a children's charity that grants wishes for children aged between 3-18 who are living with a life-threatening illness. The evening will include a 3 course meal, mulled wine on arrival, champagne at midnight, silent auction prizes, bucking reindeer and giant twister! and DJ.
