Anthony Head Christmas fundraiser

If you like the idea of getting a bit of Anthony Head into your stockings this Christmas, then this fundraiser could be just what you've been waiting for.

Anthony, who lives near Bath, attained cult status in Buffy the Vampire Slayer playing Rupert Giles, Buffy's Watcher who poses as Sunnydale High School's librarian.

A patron of the Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land rescue centre (SHADH), Anthony is holding a Christmas fundraiser to help an abused and neglected donkey that Safe Haven have named Giles, after the character Anthony played throughout Buffy the Vampire Slayer's seven-year run.

Everyone who donates over £10 to the charity will receive a certificate of thanks signed by Anthony himself, and all proceeds from the fundraiser will go towards veterinary care for Giles.

Anthony also manages a centre for horses and companion animals at Tilley Farm, near Bath, with his girlfriend Sarah.

It's the UK centre for the Tellington Touch Equine Awareness Method (TTEAM), a training system for horses that helps improve their coordination whilst furthering understanding between horse and carer.

SHADH is a UK-registered charity which aims to provide help for the donkeys of Israel where, due to little value being attached to their wellbeing, they are left to fend for themselves when they are sick, injured, too old or surplus to requirements.

You can find out more about Tilley Farm and SHADH by clicking on the links to the websites at the top of this page.

Be gentle with me, Prime Minister

Since Buffy, the smooth-talking Gold Blend man of the 80s has starred in the BBC drama Manchild, MI5, Spooks and, most recently, Monarch of the Glen.

Anthony also stars in the brilliant Little Britain. If you haven't seen it (why not? - this programme's genius!), Anthony plays Prime Minister Michael.

His adoring aide, Sebastian, is desperately in love with him, and spends most of his time trying to make the PM see the error of his ways regarding his wife, as well as being insanely jealous of any other male the PM comes into contact with – "He was looking at you... like he loves you"!

For further details on how to make a donation to the Christmas fundraiser, go to Anthony Head's official site – the link's at the top of this page.

The closing date for donations to receive a Christmas thank you certificate is 5 December 2004. However, the fundraiser will continue after this date if you wish to donate for other special occasions.

I work for Safe Haven for Donkeys in the Holy Land and I just want to say a big "thank you" to Anthony for his support and of course to everyone who supports this initiative. SHADH is the only charity caring for tortured and abandoned donkeys in Israel and the Palestinian Territories. Donkeys are still a vital part of everyday life for a large proportion of the population and, as well as rescuing neglected and unwanted donkeys, we provide a free basic veterinary outreach service and programmes of care to try and improve attitudes towards this most gentle of animals. Thank you Anthony and all who donate to SHADH!
