The lucky twins
In the summer of 1998 Gremlin gave birth to a healthy pair of twins. Twins are uncommon among chimpanzees and in neither of the two previously recorded instances of Gombe twins were the mothers (one of which was Gremlin's mum Melissa) able to rear both successfully.

Having been born into a strong clan, and with experienced mum Gremlin to provide for them, the future seems more hopeful for these two.
