The end is na–na–nigh…

Slink Beav considers what he might do post–Slink and reader Niamh takes a stand against the alphabet.

Beaver Bulletin 147: The end is nigh :(

Beav

Oh, hi there Slinksters!

So most of you will probably have heard the upsetting news that Slink is closing. Everyone at Slink HQ is deeply saddened by the news, which is why your comments and well wishes mean so much to everyone who works here. Thank you. We are loving all the comments coming in, so if you want to leave one please do so here.

It’s not all doom and gloom though! After all, what happens when someone moves house? When someone leaves school? When someone accidentally eats the outer layer of a Babybel? Why, we have a MASSIVE PARTY, OF COURSE!

And a massive party is exactly what will be happening right here, on Slink, right up until it’s closure. That’s right, we’ve got some of our best ever features coming your way; so rally the troops (or, you know, your mates) and join the party! We promise there will be no cheesey type wax.

THAT’S RIGHT. IT AIN’T OVER 'TIL WE SAY IT’S OVER.

On a personal note, I was quite touched by Katherine‘s comment “WHAT ABOUT BEAV?!!!” Yeah! What about me?!? Err... well, Just like Slink Aiss, Anna, Fraser, Helen, Tae, Mel, Kev and Vicki, I’ll make sure I see the closure of Switch as an exciting opportunity to try something new. BUT WHAT? Eep.

Well, dear Slinksters, this is where YOU come in.

In the last few weeks, I’ve told you how good I am at being Bieber, at drumming, at wig-wearing... but none of those feel quite as a career choice for a little old beaver like myself. So what do you think I should do next??

Beav getting his dance on

Send in your suggestions (or even pictures) to slinkmail@bbc.co.uk (or by using the form on the right) and I’ll print the best ones next week.

Thanks again for all your continued support. Now, let’s go enjoy the party! *sings* I’m talkin’ bout night beaver, night beaver, night beaverrrr...

Some colourful letters

Niamh, 14, writes:

I think that the alphabet is far too long. Lets get rid of AT LEAST 5 letters... but which ones?! x

Slink Frase says:

U, because it just sucks up to Q the whole time.
Q because it does nothing you can't do with K and W together.
W because it takes to long to say. It's not even a double-U. It's a double-V.
Y because it can't commit to being a vowel or a consonant.
And G. Just because I don't like it.

Slink Helen says:

I think we should get rid of vowels because they think they are so much better than the other letters but they are worth the least on a scrabble board.

Slink Vicki says:

I think we should remove V, I, C, K and I... because I want those letters to myself! Mwhahahahaha... Oh wait. That means no one would ever be able to say my name... or call me... can I take it back? It's not too late is it???

Come Slinksters, if you think it, mail it! slinkmail@bbc.co.uk :)

    Three comments -

    a) I agree with emma-louise-x, a magasine would be an awesome way to keep slink going, and people could send stuff in to an address!

    b) Mwhahahahahahhahaha, Vicki, it is too late to take it back (hang on two seconds, I can't say your name, so you will have to be re named. . . . something stupid. . . . .lol. . . . .how about . . . . . .Hepzibar! Mwhahahahahahaha, congrats on the new name.

    c) And how about Beaver becoming a Retriever Beaver, he wouldn't mind fetching stuff. . . . until a real live Retriever came along. Can you imagine wiping up Beaver juice? Nasty!

How about the letters xyz because think of words that you use those letters in that can't be replaced by another letter eg bi, mi, silophone

I think you should make a magazine instead, get loyal followers from the sight to help design it, young photographers, writers etc. It would be a good way to keep slink going.
