Slink and the people that made it

What was 'Slink'?

Fun, Fashion, Facts of Life - Slink was an online magazine for teenage girls. The site aimed to provide down-to-earth information and entertainment with everything from factfiles about depression and sexual health to games and quizzes.

Our health pages were written by qualified GP Dr. Mel and we collaborated with health and welfare organisations such as Women's Aid, the Suzy Lamplugh Trust, Jo's Trust and the Maguire Project on our real life stories and other advice content.

The site launched in 2005, relaunched with a new design in late 2010 and closed in April 2011. Although Slink is no longer updated, it has been left here for reference.

How do I get help now that Slink is no longer updated?

If you are concerned about your welfare or that of someone close to you, we recommend that you seek advice from one of the organisations listed on these advice pages.

I'm worried about stuff now, is there anyone I can talk to?

If you don't feel able to chat to family or friends, we really recommend getting in touch with the Samaritans, they are always there to listen to anything you might be going through. So I can't send in my ideas and feedback anymore?

Unfortunately not. Due to the site no longer being updated, we have removed the audience's ability to email us with questions, stories and issues.

However, if you feel strongly about a BBC programme or website and wish to complain, you can do so on the BBC's Complaints site

Who made Slink?

Well, you did! Slink was powered by all of your thoughts and questions and stories. The site was updated daily by a small BBC team, with the help of designers, coders, freelance contributors and qualified health workers.

Vicki edits our real life stories and writes a massive amount of quizzes. She hearts puns, girly dresses and Britney Spears.

Dr Mel, GP
Dr Mel is a GP based in East London and writes all of our sexual health and body factfiles. She's also on hand to offer a medical information for any area of the site whenever we need it!

Nikki, Astrologer
Nikki writes our amazing daily horoscopes which are true in their fullness. If you're missing them, you can now get there at whateverafter.co.uk
