'True Grit'
By Anne Hunter
'True Grit' - the spider in the bath
Go to a printable version of this story

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
Can they hear me shout?
Can anybody hear me and help me get it out?

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
This you've got to see
It's big and brown and hairy and got more legs than me.

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
It's really quite a mover
A glass will surely be no good, I think you'll need the hoover.

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
Now it's trying to climb
The sides of the bath are slippy but it's higher every time.

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
Is no one going to hear?
I'm going to have to do it myself and rise above my fear.

THERE'S A SPIDER IN THE BATH!
And things are looking dim
The only way is to flush it away, I hope that you can swim.

THERE WAS A SPIDER IN THE BATH
And I was very brave
The water swept him down the hole as I said bye-bye and waved.

This poem was written by Anne Hunter.
Anne is a student at Gateshead College.

Would you rescue a spider or flush him away?
