Jump that went horribly wrong!
By Craig Harper
Man with parachute

Man survives horrific fall!

People out walking gazed into the sky and they were stunned to see a parachutist without a parachute open.

The parachutist was getting closer and closer to the ground by the minute. It did not look like the man was going to stop, but at the last minute the parachute opened.

It was too late to get to safety. The wind blew the man off course, but by a miracle the man got caught on top of some trees that broke the fall.

It took the fire brigade half an hour to rescue him from the trees using an extension ladder. After he was safely back on the ground I managed to ask him a few questions before the ambulance took him to hospital.

"What was going through your mind when you could not open your chute?" He replied "I just went into a complete panic and thought I was going to die and would never get to see my family again." "Will you do another parachute jump again?" "Err yes I would do one tomorrow if I could. Today's accident has not put me off one bit."

Steve Hunt has done many other daredevil stunts for charity including a bungee jump from a hot air balloon, abseiling down The Eiffel Tower and training with the Red Arrows.

This story was written by Craig Harper, a student from Broxtowe College in Nottingham. Craig is in his mid-twenties. He works locally and is a keen cyclist. It isn't a true story (thankfully!), but was made up as part of an exercise on writing news stories.

Have you ever jumped out of a plane?
