Christmas is children
By Ann-Louise Taylor
Christmas
Go to a printable version of this story

Christmas is children
On Santa's knee
Making their wishes
And waiting to see
If what they have wished for
Is under the tree.

Christmas is children
Singing carols for all
Listening for Santa's sleigh bells
Any sound, large or small
As they lie in wait
For Santa to call.

Christmas is children
As they run down the stairs
Search through their presents
To see what is theirs.
And the look on their faces
As the paper tears.

Christmas is children
Playing with a toy.
The smiles and the laughter
From each girl and boy.
For Christmas is children
And children ARE JOY!

Ann-Louise has a two-year old son and is studying writing and child development. Ann works as a machinist and hopes to get back into writing after having had poetry published as a teenager.

Do you celebrate Christmas? How?
