Quick tips for tutors
- This worksheet is designed to promote discussion using vocabulary relating to capacity, including comparing relative sizes of capacities, estimating capacities using non-standard units and deciding how best to measure capacities.
- Learners should be encouraged to discuss the relative capacities of the different containers and to estimate them using non-standard units, for example, using one container as a unit of measurement to estimate the capacity of another.
- This activity can be followed by a practical exploration of comparison of objects’ capacity. This can be done as exact measurement, estimation or comparison in relation to one another (or other non-standard units).
