Prefixes meaning 'not'

There are several prefixes which reverse the meaning of a word. An easier way to remember them is if you think of them to essentially mean 'not'.

e.g. 'impolite' means 'not polite'

e.g. 'illegal' means 'not legal'
inmeans not
e.g. 'informal' means 'not formal'
irmeans not
e.g.'irregular' means 'not regular'
dis *one of the meanings of this prefix is also 'not'
e.g. 'disagree' means 'not agree'
