'Look, say, cover, write and check' game
This is an interactive variation on the 'Look, say, cover, write and check' method. Learners can choose a word list from a variety of topics and then see different objects come out to cover the words. There are 3 attempts to get the word right before the next word will appear. This adds more of a game quality and challenge to the activity.
NB: 'Key Words' contains words learners will come across in other parts of the site, such as irregular plurals or homophones. 'People's Choice' has word lists suggested by students via our messageboard or emails - so encourage your students to put together a list of 10 words and send it in.
TOP TIP! To see the game completely full screen, press the F11 key on the keyboard. This takes away the distraction of the top browser bar. To bring the browser bar back, just press F11 again!
'Look, say, cover, write and check' factsheet
A guide to this method of learning spelling and how it helps the student remember those difficult words.
'Look, say, cover, write and check' worksheet
A printable resource where learners can carry on the work they have done online with 'Look, say, cover, write and check' in the classroom or at home. There are two versions - one which is blank and one with a selection of words from the game.
