Task 1: Give CPR
Audio transcript:
Get a nurse over here and hit the crash button right now! Remember, that'll warn everyone that there's a cardiac arrest. Don't sit and wait for the team to come; speak to him now, see if you can get him to answer you.
If there's no response, get busy checking for a clear airway, for breathing and a pulse - ABC for short. You've got to start AV - artificial ventilation. Take this mask and bag, and get the mask on him. Now give him two rescue breaths into the bag - NOT mouth-to-mouth. After two breaths start the chest compressions - press down on his chest fifteen times and keep count. Then two more breaths into the bag and fifteen more compressions. Now get someone to take over the CPR while you hook him up to the cardiac monitor.

Task 2: Shock the heart
Audio transcript:
Quick, get his shirt wide open so his chest is clear. Put the defibrillator pads on his chest - they're the flat pads that will conduct the electricity to his heart. Take the paddles and put one on each pad and press firmly so there's good contact. Before you go any further, warn everybody to stand clear so they don't get shocked too.
Use the button on each paddle by the handle. Ready? Give him a shock to get his heart beating again.

Task 3: Check the heart
Audio transcript:
This flat disc at the end of the stethoscope, the part you put on the patient, is called the bell. Tell the patient you want him to breathe quite normally while you put the bell on his chest and listen to his heart. Then move round to his back and ask him to sit forward so that his back is clear of the trolley and you can put the bell on the top half of his back.
This time you're listening to his lungs, so you want him to take nice deep breaths. That way you can hear the action of the lungs more clearly.
