So far we have been using fractions to write probabilities. You can also use percentages and decimal numbers. For example you might hear in a weather report that 'There's a 20% chance of rain.'
Writing a probability as a fraction, decimal or a percentage doesn't change it. Percentages and decimals are just other ways to write fractions.
So what is a 20% chance of rain? 20% is the same as
. So there is a
chance of rain.
You could use a decimal too, and say there is a 0.2 chance of rain.
Here are some conversions between fractions, percentages and decimals.
