Fractions and decimals are different ways of writing the same thing.
There are a number of common ones that are useful to learn.

When solving problems involving fractions and decimals it sometimes makes the question easier if it is written in another way.
Example:
The temperature reading in my car is 28.5°C. How would I write this as a fraction?
0.5 is the same as
. So the temperature is the same as 28
°C.
