London hunger strike against LTTE

A group of Sri Lankans have staged a hunger strike in London urging the authorities not to allow pro-LTTE groups to operate
in the UK.
"Patriotic Sri Lankans in UK" say that pro-LTTE groups are planning to celebrate LTTE leader's birthday in London on 27 November. They urged the authorities not to allow the annual event to take place as the Tamil Tigers are a banned terrorist group in the UK. Rani Bulathwela, one of the organisers told BBC Sandeshaya that the pro-LTTE groups are planning to raise funds at the annual event to fund the activities of Tamil Tigers. Twelve hour hunger strike is staged in front of the Westminster parliament "It is the responsibility of the British government to stop attempts to help a banned organisation," she said. |
