Journalist protest
A group of five journalist organizations have strongly condemned an attack on three journalists.

Journalist Yamuna Darshani and cameraman Janaka Galappatti of 'Lankadeepa' newspaper and Sirasa TV journalist Dushyantha Manoj were allegedly attacked by medical students of the Colombo university.

According to the journalist they have been in the process of seeking public opinion over the dispute surrounding the boycott of answer script marking at the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examination.

The media collective says that the journalist was attacked while interviewing and photographing a medical student on his opinion on the boycott.

The media organizations point out that its disappointing that the on looking police man did not intervene.

Two still cameras and a video camera had been seized from them and the injured journolist have been admitted to hospital.

Ploice spoksman Ranjith gunasekara said that no arrests have been made.

Media organizations say that the undergraduates have taken the cue from politicians who go free after assaulting journalist.

Meanwhile a petition forwarded by MTV Channel, and one of its journalists who was allegedly attacked, by minister Mervin Silva to the supreme court had to be postponed on Wednesday.

One judge said that he could not sit on this case due to personal reasons while another was on leave.

A claim for Rs. 110 millions as compensation has been made
